School of Barrels was created by Lucas De Nardi — surfer, surf guide, and yoga teacher.

His journey reflects a simple truth:
you don’t need to be the most technical surfer in the lineup to get barreled.

You need presence, understanding, and commitment —
and a method that shows you not only what to do, but why it matters.

This immersion is ideal for intermediate to advanced surfers who are comfortable in reef breaks and want to improve positioning, technique, and barrel riding. It is not suitable for complete beginners
No — but you should be confident paddling into overhead waves and riding down the line. The program is designed to help you understand and enter barrels more consistently, not just chase waves.
This is not just a guided trip. You’ll follow a structured progression system including coaching sessions, video analysis, conscious surfing practices, and personalized feedback throughout the journey.
Wave selection depends on swell, wind, and group level. The Mentawai region offers some of the most consistent barreling waves in the world, allowing daily opportunities for progression.
We keep groups limited to maintain coaching quality, safety, and lineup awareness. Smaller groups allow more personalized feedback and wave opportunities.
Before the trip, you’ll receive access to a preparation program covering breathing, mindset, equipment setup, and Mentawai wave knowledge so you arrive ready.
We’ll send you a detailed packing guide after booking, including recommended board specs, reef safety gear, clothing, and personal essentials.
International and domestic flights are not included. We provide guidance on the best routes and timing to reach the departure point smoothly.
No. The focus is progression, awareness, and quality surfing. While the vibe onboard is relaxed and fun, the environment supports growth and conscious performance.
Expect multiple surf sessions per day. Good paddling fitness and recovery habits will help you get the most from the experience.
Mentawai offers a wide variety of waves, allowing us to adapt to different swells and winds. Coaching continues regardless, focusing on reading conditions and making smart decisions in the ocean.
